Hemofiltration is a kidney replacement therapy used in an intensive care setting, It is used to treat kidney injuries. During hemofiltration, the blood is passed through a filtration circuit via a machine to the filter where waste products and excess fluids are removed by convection. The replaced fluid is added and the blood is transferred back to the patient. Kidney replacement therapy is done when the kidneys lose their ability to filter the wastes and balance the fluids. Kidneys are the bean-shaped organs located at your back either side of your spine. There are three treatments available when a situation like this occurs.
Dialysis: This is the process in which the blood and dialysate separated either side during the process. Hemofiltration: The blood is carried through a filtration line via a machine to the filter where waste products and excess liquids are removed by convection. It imitates the functioning of the glomerular system. Kidney Transplant: This is the process of replacing the existing kidney with the donor’s kidney. It is done at the last stage of kidney failure when the kidney gets damaged.
Hemofiltration: In hemofiltration, the blood is passed through a filtration circuit via a machine to the filter where waste products and excess fluids are removed by convection. It has nothing to do with diffusion. Hemodiafiltration: Hemodiafiltration is the process of both diffusion and convection. Sometimes it is used with the process of dialysis. What are the types of ayurvedic treatment for Hemofiltration or kidney replacement therapy?
Peritoneal dialysis: It is the process of cleaning your blood using a solution called dialysate. Intermittent hemodialysis: Hemodialysis is a process of solute clearance based on diffusion across the membrane driven by a concentration gradient between the blood and dialysate. Continuous renal replacement therapy: CRRT or hemofiltration is intended to apply for 24 hrs a day in an ICU. It is the process of cleaning & filtering the blood with convection.
